2020 Season Concluded

The 2020 testing trip got off to a flying start!, starting at Monteblanco and finishing in Jerez. Josh and the team were immensely pleased with the progress made over the 7 days in Spain and were more than excited to get started with the 2020 season of BSB.

After the UK was hit with COVID-19, the hope of a 2020 season seemed to be slipping away but with all the hard work from Stuart Higgs and all at BSB we managed to go racing!!

The season was cut in half with 6 rounds, all consisting of 3 races each for the superbike class. Josh and Team CDH were rearing to get started!

Throughout the season Josh successfully achieved several top 20 finishes. In addition to this, at the last round (Brands Hatch) Josh defeated Storm Stacey securing 15th position in the race, securing his, and the teams first ever British Superbike Championship point!.

The season didn’t come without its difficult times, Josh found himself caught up in a nasty crash at Silverstone round 3 after oil was left on the track leading to several riders dismounting in a horrendous crash! Luckily Josh walked away in tact, the same could not be said for the bike. The chances of getting back on the grid for the next race looked next to impossible. With incredible efforts from the team and devoted sponsors, Josh was back on the grid for the next race and successfully finished the weekend. Donnington round 5 had some of the worst racing conditions to date, consequently Josh encountered a crash resulting in a bruised spine where Josh, the team and sponsored agreed it was not worth risking anymore damage to Joshes back .. the weekend was called off early.

Despite the few difficult times, 2020 was a season to be remembered, Josh and the team securing their first ever championship point and consistently landing top 20 finishes is a massive achievement for a privateer team. During the 2020 season, Josh and the team have developed significantly, acquiring mass amounts of confidence, an essential to making any team work!

” the 2020 season has been a massive development year for me. I am grateful to all my sponsors for allowing me to be on the grid and for Stuart and the rest of BSB for giving us the chance to go racing this year. I have been able to continue learning the ways of the superbike. A seasons highlight for me has to be securing my first championship point which was a pre-season goal I set out for myself. Again, I cant thank my sponsors enough for making this all happen! I cant wait to get back racing in 2021, hopefully with the incredible motorsport fans back to watch!!” – Josh Owens ~65
